Carlos Jahsir, best known for the time he spent on hit reality TV show Making The Band, competing for a spot in the group Day 26. He made it far along in the show but it was not an easy road.


Carlos, born in Camden, NJ and raised in Brownsville, Brooklyn, is the oldest of 11 children. The son of Marian Rivera and Carlos Ruben Martinez, he was influenced by music at an early age. His grandmother, a talented gospel singer, would bring Carlos to church while she sang in the choir, where he also received vocal training early on. Aside from Gospel music Carlos was also heavily influenced by R&B artists such as Brian McKnight, Joe, Luther Vandross, Whitney Houston and Donnie Hathaway, to name a few.


Carlos is no stranger to heartache, having overcome many obstacles already in his young life, from being estranged from his dad at age 5 and watching his mother raise him and his siblings as a single parent with minimal resources. It is these life challenges that have made Carlos who he is today and also play a big part in his music and the topics he writes about.


Competing on one of the highest rated shows on MTV was a challenge. On top of the pressures from the competition, Carlos was also a soon to be father. When he was not taping, Carlos would spend every free minute home at the time, As difficulties in his personal life began to affect his performance, he was asked to leave the show.Since his time on Making The Band Carlos has been in the studio and touring around the United States. He speaks often with the youth encouraging the kids to strive for a bright future and also speaks to other young fathers about parenthood and taking responsibility.


Carlos is currently finishing up his debut solo album and is in the process of working on a few other projects in the coming months. Carlos started a new life, now married to Shena Martinez  and little Jahsir is now 8 years old. Carlos is A Husband, A Father. An Artist. Carlos Jahsir is a legend in the Making.
